Function: Advise the Minnesota legislature on the present and future role of the Metropolitan Council, metropolitan agencies, and local government units, and to make recommendations to the 1994 legislature.
History:
The council expired June 30, 1994 per Laws of 1993, Chapter 375.
Membership:
15 members (3 members of the senate appointed by the Subcommittee on Committees of the Committee on Rules and Administration, 3 members of the house of representatives appointed by the speaker of the house, and 9 public members (5 appointed by the governor and 2 each appointed by the house and senate)); compensated by the Metropolitan Council.
Notes:
According to Gary Pagel, Senate staff person for Senator Flynn, there was no formal written final report. The result of the commission was the bill passed in 1994, Chapter 628. (note addded by Robbie LaFleur, 10/95)
