Legislative Commission on Employee Relations

Function:

Prior to the commencement of collective bargaining activities with state employees, the commission shall conduct hearings at which public employees, representatives of public employees and the commissioner of personnel (later Employee Relations) shall be allowed to testify as to their beginning negotiating positions.

History:

The Legislative Commission on Employee Relations was established in 1979. The commission consisted of six members of the senate and six members of the house of representatives.

The 1995 Legislature, as part of the Government Reform bill (see Laws of Minn. 1995, chap. 248, art. 2, sec. 6, subd. 3), abolished the Legislative Commission on Employee Relations, and transferred its duties to the Legislative Coordinating Commission, effective July 1, 1995.
