Hazardous Substance Notification Advisory Committee

Function: Advise concerning development of rules on hazardous substance notification, and assist in development of amendments to the hazardous substance notification report.
The purpose of the law is to develop procedures to protect firefighters, police and others who respond to fires or accidents. By having advance knowledge of potentially dangerous chemicals or materials at businesses or other locations, they can be better prepared to respond properly to protect themselves and the community.
History: Created 1986.
Membership: 11 members (representatives of fire chiefs, professional firefighters, volunteer firefighters, fire marshals, law enforcement personnel, emergency medical personnel, health professionals with training in toxicology, and 4 from business, including at least one from small business); appointed by commissioner of public safety; terms governed by Minn. Stat. 15.059; compensation governed by Minn. Stat. 15.059..
