Environmental Quality Board Citizens Advisory Committee

Function: Holds meetings to gather information on public and private opinion; advises and counsels Minnesota Environmental Quality Council (later Board).
The Committee was to make recommendations to the governor, legislature and the public on or before December 31 of each year regarding any needed state policy or program changes to foster and promote the improvement of environmental quality.

History: On Saturday August 4, 1973 Governor Wendell Anderson announced the appointment of an 11 member citizens advisory committee to the state Environmental Quality Council (EQC). Formation of the Committee was authorized by the 1973 legislature.

1975 Minn. Laws Chap. 271 Sec. 3 changed the name of the Environmental Quality Council to the Environmental Quality Board.
Membership: A Governor's Press release from April 23, 1972 announced the appointment of a 24-member Citizens Advisory Committee to the State Environmental Quality Council.

1973 membership was to include: one resident from each congressional district and three members at large as a vehicle for citizen participation in the activities of the council. The governor shall appoint the members of the citizens advisory committee with the advice and consent of the Senate, and the committee annually shall elect one of their members to serve as chairman.
