Function:

The Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS) Advisory Council was established to advise the Commissioner of Health regarding environmental health specialist/sanitarian registration standards, and enforcement of the REHS/RS rules; to provide for the dissemination of information regarding REHS/RS registration standards; and to review applicants for registration or registration renewal.

Members of this advisory council are appointed by the Minnesota commissioner of health.

Membership:

The council consists of seven members appointed by the Commissioner of Health: four environmental health specialists/sanitarians representative of county, municipal, and state agencies which reflect the distribution of environmental health specialists/sanitarians among these employers at the time of appointment; one educator or a representative from a regulated industry for which environmental health specialists/sanitarians are charged with enforcement of the regulation; and two public members as defined in Minnesota Statutes, section 214.02.
