Examines applicants, licenses abstracters, and handles complaints concerning Minnesota abstracters.
The Department of Commerce was charged with providing office space, administrative support, and other like support to the Abstracters Board of Examiners in 1975 (see Laws of Minnesota 1975, chapter 136, section 48). Also in 1975, the board's name changed from "Abstractors Board of Examiners" to "Board of Abstractors" (see Laws of Minn. 1975, chap. 271, sec. 3).
According to the 1993 Annual Compilation and Statistical Report, the board is no longer in existence as of August 1993.
7 members (4 abstracters, 1 attorney, 2 public members); appointed by governor; 4-year terms; per diem plus expenses; members file with Ethical Practices Board.
Originally (1957): 5 members; 6-year terms; senate confirmation not required.
