The Olmstead Implementation Office works on behalf of the Olmstead Plan Subcabinet to ensure that the Plan’s vision, goals, and time-specific tasks are achieved.
The Olmstead Plan is a broad series of key activities Minnesota must accomplish to ensure people with disabilities are living, learning, working, and enjoying life in the most integrated setting. The first Olmstead plan was submitted to the Court for review on June 13, 2013. This plan included the recommendation to form the Olmstead Implementation Office (OIO) for day-to-day oversight of the plan. By December of that year, the OIO had an "interim" head and a search was underway to find a permanent head.
