Manpower Services Department

Active dates:1970 - 1973
Function: Administered both the Minnesota State Employment Service and the Unemployment Insurance program. In addition, the Department was engaged in more than 50 Federal-State programs created by Presidential and/or Congressional action.
History: The department was established in 1969 by renaming the former Department of Employment Security. The name change took place in January, 1970. On January 1, 1974, the department's name was changed again to Employment Services.
Agency heads: Emmet J. Cushing (1971 - 1973)
