The Board licenses and regulates private detectives and protective agents.

Membership:

The board consists of five members: 

  • the superintendent of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension or an assistant superintendent designated by the superintendent;
  • a licensed protective agent, or qualified representative for a licensed protective agent corporation, appointed by the commissioner of public safety;
  • a licensed private detective, or qualified representative for a licensed private detective corporation, appointed by the commissioner of public safety; and
  • two public members, appointed by the commissioner of public safety.
