Action for Children Commission

Function:

The Commission shall advise the Governor on policy issues concerning the well-being of children and families. The goal of the commission is to improve the lives of Minnesota's children, youth, and families and to develop a plan for improvement of state services.

History:

In April 1991, the Action for Children Commission was created by Governor Arne H. Carlson to study the lives of young Minnesotans, develop a vision of what their lives should be like, and make recommendations to help the state achieve that vision. Activities: Convened 12 "Speak Out" meetings around the state in June 1991 for public discussion; convened a youth conference in October 1991.

Up to 25 members.
