Active dates:November 1988-2006
Function:

Made up of citizen membership to advise the Minnesota Future Resources Commission/Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources on implementation and management of the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund. Recommend project proposals to receive funding from the trust fund and offer advice on the development of budget and strategic plans.

History:

Originally created in 1988, with the passage of the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund constitutional amendment, as a Citizens' Advisory Committee to the Minnesota Future Resources Commission. In 1990, the Minnesota Legislature changed the name of the Minnesota Future Resources Commission back to the Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources with 1989 Laws of Minnesota Ch. 335, Art. 1, Sec. 269. This committee continued until the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources was created in 2006, eliminating the need for a separate citizen advisory committee.

Membership:

11 citizen members, appointed by the Governor; at least one member from each Congressional district. Appointees confirmed with the advice and consent of the Senate. The membership terms, compensation, removal, and filling of vacancies are governed by Minnesota Statutes 15.0575.
