Governor Pawlenty vetoed Chapter 88 on May 19, 2005. The accompanying letter acknowleded that although he vetoed the bill, he was in favor of the "constitutional amendment to dedicate 100% of the proceeds of the Motor Vehicle Sales Tax to transportation needs" and that it "will go forward notwithstanding my veto because constitutional amendments are not subject to veto."
