The Policy Group provides the overall strategic and policy direction to statewide criminal justice information integration. The Policy Group hires the Minnesota Justice Information Services (MNJIS) executive director, who reports to the Policy Group on integration projects. The Policy Group makes recommendations to the governor, Supreme Court, and legislature on integration policy issues and funding. The Policy Group, with the assistance of the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Information Task Force, shall file an annual report with the governor, Supreme Court, and chairs and ranking minority members of the senate and house committees and divisions with jurisdiction over criminal justice funding and policy by January 15 of each year. The report must provide the following:
Changes in 2016 Minn. Laws Chap. 116 ended the role of the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Information Policy group and the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Information Task Force and created instead the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Information Advisory Group with a redefined mission.
4 members (chair of Sentencing Guidelines Commission, commissioner of corrections, commissioner of public safety, state court administrator).
