The following is a statement from Governor Tim Pawlenty upon hearing of the death of Minnesota Twins great Kirby Puckett. 

"Kirby was the spark plug that ignited fans' enthusiasm.  Who couldn't look at him and not smile?  He used to say 'I love this game' and we loved him for it.  On behalf of Minnesota, Mary and I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Puckett family."
