GOVERNOR PAWLENTY ANNOUNCES FINALISTS FOR FIRST JUDICIAL DISTRICT VACANCIES -- October 17, 2007 |

Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced that he has accepted the recommendations of the Commission on Judicial Selection for three First Judicial District trial court bench vacancies. These judgeships are new positions created by the 2007 Minnesota Legislature (2007 Minnesota Laws, Chapter 54, Article 1, Section 5), and take effect on January 1, 2008. The Minnesota Supreme Court certified the chambers of these positions as follows: one for the city of Shakopee in Scott County, one for the city of Hastings in Dakota County, and one for the city of Chaska in Carver County. |

Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Douglas P. Anderson to a Seventh Judicial District trial court bench judgeship in the city of Little Falls in Morrison County. This judgeship is a new position created by the 2007 Legislature (2007 Minnesota Laws, Chapter 54, Article 1, Section 5), which takes effect on January 1, 2008. The Supreme Court has certified the chambers of this position for the city of Little Falls in Morrison County. |

Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Kristine R. DeMay and Earl E. Maus to two Ninth Judicial District trial court bench judgeships in Crow Wing County. The first opening is a new judgeship created by the 2007 Minnesota Legislature (2007 Minnesota Laws, Chapter 54, Article 1, Section 5), which takes effect on January 1, 2008. The second vacancy will occur with the retirement of the Honorable Frederick J. Casey on March 12, 2008. The Supreme Court has certified the chambers of both of these positions for the city of Brainerd in Crow Wing County. |

The vacancy will occur with the retirement of the Honorable Thomas P. Schroeder on October 26, 2007. The Minnesota Supreme Court continued the chambers of this position for the city of Detroit Lakes in Becker County. |

The Minnesota Supreme Court certified the chambers of this position for the city of Alexandria in Douglas County. |
